The Opportunity

Glow Solar is seeking an outside Sales Consultant to join our team. We know that solar is a great way for many businesses to reduce their utility bills, protect themselves from escalating energy prices, and show their employees and customers their commitment to sustainability and the environment. But many business owners and managers don’t know this—and the people who need to know are hard to find and connect with.

That’s where Sales Consultants come in. Sales Consultants use their existing professional and social networks to help the Glow Solar team connect with the right people to help those businesses learn about and evaluate whether a solar project is right for their situation. Glow Solar will handle the technical and economic evaluation after the Sales Consultant introduces the right people in the business.

Sales Consultants are independent contractors who work when they want, where they want, and as much as they want. A sales consultant’s commission-based earning potential is, therefore, unlimited. Job Responsibilities

Train with an experienced solar professional and develop a fundamental understanding of PV solar systems

Utilize independent and innovative strategies to generate interest and prospect for new solar energy projects

Obtain key information from the prospect – including their electricity bills and physical address

Accompany Glow project development team in initial discussions and the solar proposal review

Communicate with customers via calls, emails and in-person visits throughout the sales process, providing information and assistance as needed to move the sale to contract execution

Provide Glow Solar with accurate status updates and facilitate contract signing and payment.

Support project transition from Sales to the Glow Solar Project Management team

Skills and Experience

High school diploma / GED required

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Enthusiasm for developing business and interacting with a variety of people

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Basic computer skills – email, calendar, Word, and/or Excel

Sales or solar industry experience preferred but not required

Compensation

This is a commission-based sales position based on successful project referrals. If Glow is successful in obtaining a contract for a referred project within one year of the referral date, the sales consultant will be entitled to a referral fee of 3% of the final contract price for project totals up to $1,000,000/year. Referral fees will increase to 4% for annual contract price totals between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000/year. Referral fees will increase to 4.5% for annual contract price totals above $2,500,000.
