Role Overview

A leading AI research organisation is looking to engage professionals with advanced expertise in personal finance. This full-time position offers the opportunity to shape the next-generation of AI systems by contributing high-quality data, insights, and evaluations in areas such as retail investing, budgeting, financial planning, and personal tax preparation. As an AI Personal Finance Data Specialist, you will apply your financial expertise to help train AI models that understand and reason effectively about real-world financial decisions.

You will collaborate closely with technical teams to refine data annotation tools, design efficient workflows, and select complex financial problems that improve model performance. This role requires precision, adaptability, and a strong passion for innovation in the rapidly evolving world of AI and finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use proprietary tools to label, annotate, and evaluate personal finance data
  • Provide expert input across scenarios involving investing, budgeting, and tax planning
  • Collaborate with research teams to train and refine AI systems for financial reasoning
  • Help design and improve annotation tools tailored for financial data
  • Interpret evolving task instructions accurately and deliver consistent, high-quality results

Ideal Qualifications

  • Professional experience in personal finance or related fields (e.g., retail investing, financial planning, personal tax preparation, or financial advisory roles)
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments with limited information
  • Demonstrated interest in technology and AI applications in finance

Preferred Background

  • Relevant certification or training (e.g., CFP, CFA, Enrolled Agent, or similar personal finance/tax-related credential)
  • Experience mentoring or training others in financial planning, investing, or tax preparation
  • Familiarity with AI workflows, data annotation, or related technical environments
  • Comfortable recording short audio or video sessions for data collection

Work Environment

  • Based in Palo Alto, CA (in-office, 5 days per week) or fully remote with strong self-management skills
  • U.S.-based applicants must reside outside of Wyoming and Illinois
  • Typical hours: 9:00am–5:30pm PST during training, then aligned with your local timezone
  • Remote workers must use a personal computer that meets one of the following requirements: a Chromebook, a Mac running macOS 11 or newer, or a Windows PC running Windows 10 or newer
  • Reliable smartphone access is required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive pay ranging from $90,000 to $200,000 annually for U.S.-based professionals, depending on experience and location
