We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join the Sophion Biosciences team. As a critical member, you will play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance and functionality of our automated patch clamp and organ-on-a-chip instrumentation at client sites. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, general maintenance and repair, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement upgrades, providing comprehensive training sessions, and conducting regular system evaluations to uphold the highest standards of instrument reliability. As a key ambassador for Sophion, you will cultivate strong client relationships through effective communication and prompt resolution of technical challenges, contributing to the continued success of our expanding North American operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation and Commissioning: Conducting on-site installation and commissioning of Sophion Automated Patch Clamp and Ethica M instrumentation, ensuring it meets the client’s specifications and quality standards.
  2. Maintenance and Repairs: Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of QPatch, Qube and Ethica M systems to ensure uninterrupted functionality. Responding promptly to service requests and providing timely resolutions.
  3. Documentation: Creating detailed service reports, documentation, and maintaining accurate records of all service activities. Providing feedback to the engineering and R&D teams for continuous product improvement.
  4. Training: Providing training to clients on the proper usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Sophion automated patch clamp & Ethica M instrumentation, ensuring they have a clear understanding of its features and capabilities.
  5. Customer Support: Serving as a point of contact for technical support, addressing client inquiries, and maintaining strong relationships with customers to enhance satisfaction.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborating with the Sales, Application Science and Engineering teams to communicate client feedback, potential product enhancements, and identifying opportunities for upselling additional services or products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, a related field or equivalent certifications
  • In-depth knowledge of liquid handling devices from various industry systems; ensuring proper integration and functionality is beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience with field service work
  • Experience with electrical and pneumatics preferred
  • Must possess a good grasp of core engineering concepts which include ability to read and interpret electrical/circuit Schematic drawings.
  • Must be able to use test/measuring equipment’s like Digital Multimeter (DVM).
  • Must be a team player, critical thinker and flexible for effective performance in the field.
  • Experience with service management systems and processes
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of Festo pressure systems is a plus
  • Manage MySQL and Oracle databases to ensure seamless system integration and performance.
  • Network Configuration and Maintenance: configure and troubleshoot network setups, routers, and DHCP configurations to guarantee optimal system connectivity.
  • Possess a basic understanding of Linux systems to address software and operating system-related challenges.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to address technical issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, ensuring a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Ability to travel 60% once initial training is complete.
