Role Overview
In this role as a Social Copywriter, you are part ofβ―an agile social team that is constantly looking for inspiration in the world, culture, and on the internet to find the next opportunity for a breakthrough social content. You are the voice of your brands online and therefore are responsible for shaping the brandsβ personalities every day with the words and ideas you create for social.β―You have a deep understanding of your audience, and your brandsβ passion points to be able to identify opportunities for social content.β―You have the creative ability to craft the clever responses, humorousβ―postsβ―and meaningful brands act on social that define how your brand comes to life.
You will interface with the community every day, through the lens of earning attention and starting a conversation. Youβll collaborate with a content creator and social media manager to ideate and create content for social, and youβll work with an Art Director/Copywriter team to elevate great social ideas into brand acts and elevated content. You help create and steward the playbooks that define the personality of these brands, from their passion points to their tone of voice. You will help ensure that each brand lives up to its unique place in a constantly evolving dynamic world of social media.
Your work will make a meaningful impact with a multi-talented team in North America (Toronto & Chicago) that blurs the lines of what advertising can be in todayβs always-on, socially connected industry.
Core Responsibilities
- SOCIAL COPYWRITING: Youβre a versatile writer who will write a range (from funny to inspiring) contentβ―for social and digital channels,β―helping to build consumer love for your brand and establish cultural relevance
- CONTENT CREATION: You will write,β―editβ―and publish engaging posts for various social networks
- SOCIAL OPTIMIZATION: You will optimize social media posts (language, tone, message) based on our target audienceβs behaviors and established brand tone and voice
- COLLABORATION: You will work with aβ―Content Creator on images and videos to complement text, and co-create a wide range of social post types and concepts
- BRANDβ―PRESENCE CREATION: Youβll manage/update social media pages, profiles with on-tone descriptions and news
- AD COPYWRITING: You will coordinate with internal teams to create advertising concepts
- COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT: Youβll respond to questions and comments on our social media pages in a timely and accurate manner or transfer to the social care or escalations team for customer service-related issues
Experience & Skills
- 1+ years of experience in a social team or creative department in a related role
- Advertising portfolio required
- A proven track recordβ―of writing forβ―brands with a significant following, ideally for a CPG or lifestyle brand
- A university or college diploma in marketing, advertising, or a related field is preferred
- A history of being able to work with creative teams and strategists, providing expertise and influencing the brandβs strategy
- A love and deep understanding of social culture and trends
- Experience with a social media management platform (i.e.β―Sprout, Sprinklr, Khoros) is required
- Excellent presentation skills and communication skills in a group environment
- A passion for food and food marketing
- A desire to do award-winning, internationally recognized work
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $57-65K
Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of The Kitchen’s total compensation package.
